Zubin Appoo, Senior Manager - Product Development
Zubin joined CargoWise edi (then Eagle Datamation International) in January 2004 and has been deeply involved in the development of the ediEnterprise product
suite. His main focus is the development and management of the Operational Products including the Freight, CRM and Rating modules of the product.
He is also responsible for the delivery of the core architecture used by the 100 CargoWise edi developers spread throughout the globe. Through this work, he
has achieved a high level of operational understanding of the international supply chain and logistics industry.
Having completed his Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) from the University of Technology, Sydney in 1999, he has a deep technical understanding and great interest in the technologies used to build ediEnterprise and has also achieved a number of industry certifications in the Microsoft .NET technology stream.
Prior to joining CargoWise edi, he has worked as a Consultant at both EDS and Accenture where he consulted to financial institutions in building both
internal and customer facing information technology systems.
Apart from being involved in the coding and development of the product, Zubin also spends much of his time managing the development team at CargoWise edi's
multiple international offices. This involves managing personnel and product outcomes, business requirements analysis, customer interaction and ensuring
high quality and high productivity across the worldwide product development teams.
Married and living in Sydney, Zubin and his wife Rakhshandeh enjoy travelling, music and playing with their very energetic puppy Lola!
Cris Arens, Global Sales Director
Cris is based in Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA, and
he is in charge of the global sales network for CargoWise edi.
Cris has been involved in international sales his entire career
which began with an internship out of college in Istanbul, and
which led to working for an international trading company and
then for freight forwarders. In the various positions, his business
travels took him to many parts of the world and he has learned
much from the various cultures and people he has met on these
trips over the last 20 years….and he continues to learn.
In 1995, he and another partner formed a company called Fountainhead
International which developed, supported and sold software
solutions to the freight forwarding community in the United
States. The average growth rate over the 10 years of Fountainhead's
existence was over 40%. In 2006, Fountainhead merged with
Eagle Datamation International to become CargoWise edi.
With significant contacts and a growing client base throughout
Europe and Asia, in addition to the significant market share
in the U.S. and Australia, CargoWise edi intends to become
the industry leader to the forwarding community. Cris believes
to become the industry's leader CargoWise edi must be very
strong at the local level with smaller freight forwarders
who will continue to be an important part of the business;
while at the same time expanding the regional and global account
base with the right technology, and the right focus.
Volodya Bilanovsky, VP Business Development - Eastern Europe and Middle East
Volodya is based in Kiev, Ukraine, where he is in charge of the CargoWise edi business development for Eastern Europe and Middle East markets. Prior to joining CargoWise edi, Volodya gained experience in international logistics
and distribution with extensive software development and business management in various positions.
He began his career 1997 in Kiev, Ukraine and moved to Baku, Azerbaijan in 1999, following an oil and gas boom in the Caspian Region. Volodya moved to the U.S. in 2003 (Houston, Texas) where he broadened his experience working
on customer specific Electronic Data Interchange solutions. Since joining CargoWise edi in Chicago, he has supervised dozens of successful projects in Supply chain, Distribution and Transportation areas for CargoWise edi clients.
In May 2006, CargoWise edi and Volodya agreed to use his experience and background to help strengthen our business development in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He relocated back to Kiev and took charge of local sales,
development and support teams to enhance our position in the market. Volodya has a M.S. in IT from National Technical University of Ukraine, and is in charge of sales in this fast growing logistics region.
Mike Coney, VP Business Development - Asia Pacific
Mike began his career serving in the Navy for almost
9 years before being trained as a Diamond Buyer. Recognizing
that the job market for diamond-buying ex-Naval Officers was
unlikely to expand, Mike acquired an MBA and began a 20 year
career in freight forwarding.
Starting out at Ellerman Lines in London, and after an initial
spell in Head Office, Mike was appointed MD of Ellerman Air
Cargo. Acting on Board instructions Mike sold the Company
and left Ellerman to further his career in freight forwarding
elsewhere.
Further management roles with MSAS (now Exel), Charles Kendall
Freight, Rockwood International Freight in HKG, Afri-Freight
and Transtec Ocean Express (which subsequently became UTi)
provided Mike with invaluable insight into the Forwarding
industry and its processes.
In 1993, Mike moved to Singapore to take over as MD of Transtec
Ocean Express. During this time UTi was being created. Mike
stayed with Transtec until 1997 when the merger of the two
UTi companies in Singapore was complete.
Mike joined CargoWise edi (then Eagle Datamation) as Asian
Regional manager. He was stationed in Singapore. At that time
CargoWise edi had three users in Singapore and 2 in Manila.
Mike has since grown this customer base to more than 70
users across 13 Asian countries securing a number of regional
contracts along the way. Mike now works out of Sydney (Head
Office) and manages the International Sales Team.
Karen Connolly, VP Global Customer Service
Karen has been involved with the freight forwarding industry for more than 20 years. Some of her time was spent working with Cooltainers a refrigerated container operator, Seaport Shipping and Brambles
International Cargo. Karen began her career at edi in 1997 in the Customer Support team and has since had a number of roles including Installations & Logistics and Software Training & Scheduling. In July 2007,
after 12 months as the Customer Service Manager - ASPAC, Karen was appointed Customer Service Manager - Global to help manage the integration of the team into a global 24x7 customer service model.
Steve Corbet, VP Business Development - Europe, Middle East and Africa
Steve is based in the UK, and has been involved in the IT industry since 1974 starting work as a trainee programmer for BMW – who were involved even then in early Distribution and Supply Chain
prototypes.
In 1980’s Steve moved into the Software House arena, working in Project Management and Consultancy roles throughout Europe and Africa. Since 1988 he has worked within the Logistics and
Distribution marketplace in Business Development roles encompassing both New Business Sales and Account Management.
Since the 1990’s he has been involved in Sales and Account Management with BAX, DHL, GeoLogistics K&N, Maersk, NYK, Rennies, Schenker and Yusen Air & Sea.
Steve joined CargoWise edi in October 2006 to spearhead the sales and business development in EMEA, targeting our regional and global account base.
Kirsten Duerig, Manager Professional Services Team
Kirsten is based in the Sydney office and manages the Professional Services Team that develops and integrates into ediEnterprise customer-specific software components.
Kirsten began her career in Exports Operations for several years before moving into the IT Industry in 1991. Until 1995 she worked for the German software company AEB GmbH, Stuttgart. She developed and
implemented customer-specific Exports Operations applications and managed the projects.
Kirsten temporarily moved to Australia from 1995 to 1997. During this time she worked for CargoWise edi (then Eagle Datamation International) in Customer Support and Training.
Afterwards Kirsten returned to Germany and continued her career with AEB. In her role as Project Manager and Manager of the U.K. Team she helped AEB establish a customer base in the United Kingdom,
develop a standard U.K. Exports Operations software package and establish a U.K. subsiduary.
In 2001, Kirsten moved to Australia permanently and joined the CargoWise edi development team.
Melinda Elmowy, VP Global Marketing
Melinda Elmowy is the VP Marketing for the CargoWise
edi group..
Melinda began her career at Seaconlink in 1994, a forwarding
software development company whilst studying marketing part-time.
Her role at Seaconlink included product and project management
and also assisted with strategic sales, software demonstrations,
implementation and training on a local and international basis.
In May 1999, CargoWise edi purchased the business of Seaconlink
and Melinda was employed as the Seaconlink Product Manager.
After migrating the 100+ Seaconlink customers to the CargoWise
edi product range in less than 6 months to beat the Y2k deadline
and completing her studies, Melinda took on the role of VP
Global Marketing.
Currently in this role and with 12 plus years experience
promoting software to the trade and transport industry, Melinda
manages the promotional and communication strategy globally
to ensure an aligned marketing strategy.
Gene Gander, VP Sales USA
Gene joined CargoWise edi (formerly Fountainhead)
in November 2001. Previously, Gene worked as national sales
manager for Innovata, an airline schedule content and technology
provider. Before that, he was cargo product manager for the
Americas at OAG. He also has extensive freight forwarding experience
in sales, operations and management. Shortly after joining CargoWise
edi, he invested in the company as an owner. Gene is responsible
for sales in North America.
Chris Gill, Customer Service Manager USA
Chris joined CargoWise edi (formerly Eagle Datamation International)
in March 2005 originally based out of the CargoWise edi Sydney office.
Previously, Chris worked for Unisys and Gibson Freight in a variety of Customer Service
and Management related roles.
Chris moved to Chicago in June 2007 to manage the integration of the USA Customer Service team into a global 24x7 customer service model.
Chris is now reponsible for Customer Service in USA.
Dave Hockersmith, VP U.S. Business & Product Development
Dave Hockersmith is Vice President of U.S. Business & Production Development.
He joined CargoWise on May 1, 2007. He brings with him over 31 years of experience in the transportation industry
ranging from cartage operations to freight forwarding. This includes various companies he has owned and operated.
Dave was a Charter member of the Air Forwarders Association. He has held many past positions including President in
1995 and AFA Chairman in 1996. He led the cargo automation subcommittee for 6 years, from 1996 – 2002.
Currently Dave is the chairman of the Communications sub-committee and sits on the board of directors.
From 1998 to 2007 Dave was CEO of Trans-Soft, Inc. a software development company providing custom applications and
solutions for the logistics and forwarding industry. Trans-Soft’s expertise was in the U.S. domestic market.
This experience and knowledge will be beneficial to CargoWise edi and our customers as we expand our product
offerings within the U.S. market.
When he is not involved in software development and business consulting Dave is active in Masters track and field on a national and international level where he completes 100, 200 & 400 meter sprints.
Melanie Kelsey, VP Global Implementation Projects
Melanie Kelsey is the VP Global Implementation Projects and is based in our Sydney office where she commenced employment in 2000. Melanie from the Freight Forwarding industry started her career at Cargowise edi in 2000 on our help desk.
After a year and a half on the help desk Melanie was offered the Help Desk Manager role and then onto various roles in Documentation, Training Scheduling and Project Management for both development and implementation.
In January 2008 Melanie moved into a global role where she now heads up our global implementation team.
Micky Mirchandani, VP Business Development - The Americas
Micky brings more than 18 years of experience in the transportation industry, including multi-modal operations, consulting, project management, business and solutions development.
Leading the global account management strategy and Marketing in the Americas, Micky also has responsibility to grow the presence of the company in Latin America and Canada.
Micky comes to us from Unisys Global Transportation where as Director of Sales, Micky lead the logistics solutions portfolio for North America which covers air freight, cargo security and RFID initiatives.
Prior to Unisys, Micky was with i2 Technologies, where he was Senior Director and part of the launch team for FreightMatrix, a trading platform for multi-modal cargo carriers. i2 Technologies is the
world’s leading supply chain company. He was responsible for partner relationships, business development, and product strategy.
Prior to i2 Technologies, Micky spent time at Cargo Airline Solutions at Sabre, Inc., a global airline solutions company and Emirates Cargo and its sister company DNATA Cargo in UAE.
Micky also has more than six years of maritime experience working in various operational and development roles for major carriers like P&O/Nedlloyd, Maersk, Hoegh and the Wilhemsen Group.
Education -- Bachelor of science degree in Marketing from Bombay University; MBA degree from the University of Rhode Island in Transportation and Information Systems.
Mike Sverdlov, CTO US Development
Mike joined CargoWise edi in April 2000,
bringing with him a set of Internet development and software
engineering skills that played an important role in enhancing
our product offering and internal processes. He manages the
U.S. based development department for CargoWise edi, and is
involved in all facets of the software lifecycle: from functionality
specs to architecture design.
Mike has graduated from one of the best Computer Science
schools in the U.S., the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He previously worked at several software development organizations,
including the National Center for Supercomputing Applications
(NCSA) and Health Network Ventures, an online healthcare startup,
where he specialized in web application development.
Mike's hobbies include casual singing, playing guitar and
piano.
Natalie Wallace, VP Sales ASPAC
Natalie is the VP Sales ASPAC for CargoWise edi and is located in Sydney, Australia.
Natalie has worked with the Supply Chain industry for over twenty years, including running her own freight forwarding company for 7 years, working and managing various Australian and global 3PL organizations.
Natalie’s portfolio includes developing and managing the sales teams within the current CargoWise edi landscape and expanding the regional footprint into new markets.
Apart from juggling work and family commitments, Natalie is also studying (MBA) by correspondence.
Richard White, CEO
Richard White is the CEO and founder of CargoWise edi.
Richard's skills combine a unique 12-year understanding
of the industry with 30 years in both software development
and business management. He has a deep technical understanding
of Electronic Data Interchange standards (EDIFACT, ANSI, XML
etc) and e-Commerce and combines this with a strong commercial
grip on industry issues.
Richard actively works to assist the industry in a number
of voluntary forums. He consults voluntarily to scores of
industry associations and attends the many International Customs
Service sponsored technical forums that are required in order
to develop business and systems processes to suit the International regulatory environment.
He is keenly and actively involved in commercial and non-commercial
activities that develop the capabilities of the international
supply chain and the providers that work within it.
Having completed his Masters of Business in Information
Technology (MBIT) at the University of Technology, he is now
deeply involved in research into data management in the international
supply chain and is working towards a PhD in this area. This
research is adding to the body of work on supply chain management
and is feeding back into products and development at CargoWise
edi.
When not developing software, researching the supply chain
or spending time with his family, he enjoys playing jazz guitar.
Peter Willis, CFO/COO
Peter joined edi in August 2005 as Chief Operating
Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Immediately prior to edi,
Peter was the Chief Financial Officer of Health Communication
Network Limited, a health IT company listed on the Australian
Stock Exchange. Peter has held senior finance positions in Telstra
International, Vinidex Tubemakers and Deloitte.
Peter's experience is in managing growth and developing operations.
Tania Wilson, VP Global Training
Tania Wilson is the VP Global Training for the Cargowise edi group and is based in our Sydney office.
Tania’s early career was as a bookkeeper working with manual and computerized systems, including a position at Tangent International
Business Systems, an international freight & customs brokerage software development company. It was here that Tania was exposed to software
development and the trade, transport and logistics industry. Tania's role at Tangent involved specifying system design for the international
freight and accounting modules, demonstrating, training and providing support of the software systems that Tangent developed. During the
early 1990's Tania was promoted to Office Manager and Director of Tangent.
In May 1995, when CargoWise edi purchased Tangent, Tania took on the role of Freight Forwarding Product Manager and Software Support
Manager. Tania's career with CargoWise edi over the last 13 years has involved various management roles within the organization including
On Line Learning materials, Implementation Project Management, and Training. Tania has assisted the company to grow our training team from
3 people in the late 90’s to a team of over 20 product specialists across 7 offices, and will continue to grow this team in line with our
expansion in to new markets.
Henry Ye, Senior Manager, Development
Henry is based in Sydney, Australia, and he is responsible
for the daily operations of the large-scale agile software development
process at CargoWise edi, and facilitates onshore and offshore
development across multiple development centers around the world.
Henry has been with the company since 2001 and has extensive
hands-on software development experience with ediEnterprise.
Prior to joining CargoWise edi, Henry was a management consultant
with The Boston Consulting Group, and was a member of the
Corporate Development practice and the IT Strategy practice.
Henry also has extensive software development and project
management experience with various companies including EDS
and TIBCO Software.
